With a cuppa nearby, my iPad open to Procreate, and my beautiful puppy sleeping beside me, I’m working on my first coloring book of hand-drawn pages — simple, motivational word art designed for calm coloring. Each page invites you into a slower, gentler world — the kind where there’s room to breathe, pause, and add a little beauty to your day.
Retirement has made it possible for me to return to art, and it brings me so much joy. I take online art classes (some free, some paid), and oh, how I wish I’d gone to art school when I was younger! The unstructured learning curve is no joke for an oldster, LOL — but I’m finally doing what I love.
In my art, I’m drawn to playful imperfection and simplicity. The way a wobbly line can show the human behind it. The way blank space can feel like an exhale. My hope is to make pages that feel calming, comforting, and easy to color — like a soft place to land.
As I create this book, I’m also giving away the pages — one a week, here from the Library. Follow me on Instagram to see when I upload a new one.
This is my quiet way of making something good — and sharing it with you, that you might find pleasure in bringing it to life with color. If you’ve enjoyed the free pages, the finished book will gather them into one place — a keepsake to revisit, share, or gift.
